No, you are right, and in a sense this is also what happens in this scene,


here, but then, who cares??
Other erosion patterns are less evident and follow the faults and diaclases
in the rocks. Perhaps you could say that the foreground is a little bit like
that.
In fact, the used texture should more or less follow the pattern shown, but
the use of slope/altitude has obscured that for a large part. I prefer it
that way.
